Emerging Stronger: Thoughtful Planning for Unfinished Learning in Mathematics
A Looney Math Institute for Teams of Educators
Looney Math Consulting is offering a 3-day institute to provide educators with a roadmap for emerging from the 2020-2021 school year stronger.
We believe the work ahead of us is to address unfinished learning while acknowledging all that we HAVE LEARNED.
We believe we must do this work with recognition of the trauma we have all been through, with a celebration and with a positive mindset.
We believe doing the work around equity must be a key consideration.
We are at a critical juncture as we look towards next fall, and we are here for you. We have remained on the front lines of education throughout this pandemic, and we understand the challenges ahead.

FAQs:
What do you mean by a team?
Registration for this event includes no less than 3 member teams. Teams should be inclusive and representative of all members of your school. Considerations include: grade level, special education, administrators, math coaches, as well as gender and race. The team assembled must be committed to the work, and ready to take action on decisions.
Can individual teachers sign up?
No - We want to be clear that this is an opportunity for teams of educators who are looking to lead your school and / or district through creating thoughtful and actionable plans. Teams are necessary in order for decisions to be made.
What if a team member can’t make all 3-days?
That will be up to you to decide how much their missing a day will disrupt the flow of your work. We do not recommend anyone missing any of the components, and we are striving for consistency and full attendance.
What are working sessions?
During this time, teams will be given a call to action which includes tasks and discussion questions that relate to the previous presentation. Teams will work either in person, off line, or gather in their own break out rooms. Teams will be assigned their own personal consultant who will be available during sessions for individual questions and support.
What can I expect at the end of the 3-day institute?
You can expect to have a road map and a start to the work. We are not going to promise miracles and quick fixes here. Rather, this is where the planning and thinking begins. While the work won’t be complete, you will have your road map to guide you on the journey of next year.
What will be available as take away resources?
You will be given discussion prompts, tasks to complete, and follow up resources that you will use both during the institute and throughout your work next year.
What if we want to keep working with our personal consultant?
By all means, let us know! That’s what we are here for. We can craft an individualized plan to continue to support the work as it unrolls across the school year.
Will I receive a certificate for my time?
Yes, all participants will receive 20 CEUs for their participation in this event. If you are in MA, you may request to receive MA PDPs.
