For Christmas, Mr. Looney made a pattern of lights that went green, red, blue, yellow. What color was the 24th light? What about the 98th? Write a rule to predict the color of any light by just knowing the number.


Hot Chocolate

Jessica and Joey are making hot chocolate. Joey’s uses 3 marshmallows for every two marshmallows that Jessica uses. If Joey uses 24 marshmallows, how many marshmallows did Jessica put in her hot cocoa? Write an equation with a variable to match the problem. Solve using either a ratio table, a bar diagram, or a double number line.

Kate wanted to make hot chocolate to warm up. The ingredients in the recipe she found reads:

  • 2 1/3 cup milk

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 3 teaspoons cocoa

The recipe makes 4 mugs of hot chocolate.

If Kate only wants to make one mug, what will the recipe be?

What if she wants to make 6 mugs?
