Memorial Day

Each year, Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday of May to honor our nation’s fallen soldiers.Memorial Day is often celebrated with parades, featuring local politicians and community members, veterans of the armed forces, and marching bands bearing our country’s flag. 

Early Childhood

In the small town of Mendon, 78 people participated in the town’s Memorial Day parade.  That was 12 more people than Mendon’s neighboring town of Upton.  How many people participated in the Upton parade?

Upper Elementary

The marching band in the Memorial Day parade marched in twelve rows, with 9 musicians in each row.  How many musicians were in the marching band?

Middle School

During a Memorial Day parade, one street vendor sold hot dogs for $2.50 each.  Another street vendor sold cold drinks for $0.75 each.  Both street vendors made the exact same amount of money during the day.  If the hot dog vendor sold 42 hot dogs, how many cold drinks did the other street vendor sell?
