Early Childhood
Count how many of the following you can find in your desk or on your table: pencils, books, and erasers. Which group (pencils, books or erasers) has the largest number of objects? Which group has the smallest number? Use a number line to solve.
Upper Elementary
In preparing for the start of school, your teacher sharpened three pencils for each student in the class. How many pencils did your teacher sharpen? Draw a math model to show how you know.
Middle School
Identify the number of each of the following objects in your desk, then create a table of equivalent ratios relating the number of objects to one student, to the number of students in your class, and finally to the number of students in your school: pencils, books, erasers. Explain your thinking.
